Roberto Tedesco wins in Hannover

We are proud to announce that our dancer Roberto Tedesco has been awarded at the 34th edition of the International Choreographic Competition Hannover (5 and 6 June 2020).

Out of the 250 applications submitted for the 2020 edition of the International Choreographic Competition Hannover, only 20 were examined by the renowend jury of experts. Among these 20, Roberto Tedesco’s AGR Duet was awarded the Critic’s Prize.

Roberto also received the NTM-Production Award. This prize, an absolute newcomer to the 34th edition, was assigned by Stephan Thoss, director of the NationalTheatre Mannheim dance company. So our young choreographer will have the opportunity to realize a short creation for the NTM Dance ensemble, which will be presented, during an evening full of dance, in Mannheim, on January 9th, 2021.

The International Choreographic Competition Hannover, which every year involves hundreds of young choreographers from more than 50 countries and is an important stepping stone, was attended, two years ago, by another dancer and choreographer of Aterballetto, Philippe Kratz, who had won first prize with the duo “O”.

AGR DUET was created at the end of 2019 with the intention to continue experimenting. Improvisation, analysis and revision are the key points of the process through which he tries to capture the most spontaneous and personal side of the movement.

The result of thirty days of work, with an average of two hours of work per day, in collaboration with two talented young dancers who are not yet professionals, is an experiment that initially focused exclusively on the instinct of movement and then evolved in the study of human dynamics – apparently simple but extremely complex.

Roberto Tedesco was born in Paola (Cosenza, Italy) in 1992. He began training in 2003 at the dance school Danza Koreos. After a few years he began his classical training. In 2008-09, he trained at Bruno Verzino’s New World Ballet School in Cosenza thanks to a scholarship and performed with the Balletto di Calabria Dance Company.

In 2009, he participated in the auditions of the Scuola del Balletto di Toscana and obtained a scholarship. He attended the school and joined the company of young dancers Junior BdT performing in works of M. Bigonzetti, F. Nappa, A. Bigonzetti, E. Scigliano, M. Merola, C. Rizzo, F. Monteverde, A. Benedetti.
In February 2011, he danced with the company of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, appearing in a work by A. Foniadakis.

In September 2011 he joined Compagnia Aterballetto. In July 2014 he created for Aterballetto Prendimi per mano, in 2015 Tu l’opposto di me, in 2016 Kersiam and in 2017 Apnea.

His choreography Cemento is within the dance and photography project In/Finito (2018).
