Alla ricerca del gesto perduto

14 March sees the start of the new edition of the gesture-dance seminar dedicated to the over 50s “In search of the lost gesture” in collaboration with the Libera Università del Crostolo.
Dance is a total expression of the human body and spirit: through it, man communicates and indulges the power of the elements to feel part of the cycle of nature and a member of a community or group. The whole body is pervaded by an intentional movement within space, rhythmic and shaped by the sound that can be produced by the clapping of hands and feet or by musical instruments. Furthermore, choreographic movement differs from everyday movement, as it is performed on special occasions or performances during which people want to communicate their emotions and values.
From this concept comes to life the workshop reserved for non-dancers, which starts from everyday gestures and meets music to create a theatrical language in movement. The aim is to give back to adults the dynamics of the body that is innate in us, but is lost after childhood.
The meetings will take place from March to May 2022 in the spaces of the Fonderia with Arturo Cannistrà, in charge of the educational activities.
This workshop and performance pathway will be the starting point of a wider research in partnership with the Department of Communication and Economics of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, which aims to investigate in depth the relations between culture, wellbeing and health, evaluating and returning the social impact of artistic and performance activities, with particular attention to the elderly and the disabled. The project envisages the collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, the development and application of tools to measure wellbeing, in relation to different audiences.
