April in Dance

In April, the Spring of bodies, places and dance shows up in all its forms.

The Aterballetto company, after the first ten days of the month on tour in Massy, Scandiano, Verona and Pisa, is getting ready for its new debut at the Teatro Municipale Romolo Valli in Reggio Emilia on 27 April. After almost a year, Aterballetto returns to dance on the stage of its own town, presenting the world premieres of Yeled by Israeli choreographer Eyal Dadon and Shoot me by resident choreographer Diego Tortelli. In the Fonderia you can breathe the unique air of a premiere.

There will also be dates with our productions danced by dancers selected for the occasion. After the great success and extraordinary enthusiasm of the performances in March, following a request by the Fondazione Brescia Musei, Stanze\Rooms, a site-specific itinerant performance by Diego Tortelli, is back with four performances on 3 April in the beautiful halls of the Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo in Brescia.
At the Teatro Carcano in Milan on 28 April, in the wider programme of PRESENTI ACCESSIBILI, an Italian event organised by Oriente Occidente within the Europe Beyond Access network, an articulated project on the accessibility of art and culture, we perform Feeling Good, a duet for an abled dancer and a disabled dancer by Diego Tortelli.

From 9 April Meridiana will be available in virtual reality in the spaces of the Historical Pharmacy of the former Sant’Agostino hospital in Modena. AGO Modena Fabbriche Culturali offers visitors the chance to immerse themselves in an artistic performance, among the moving bodies of real dancers, simply by wearing a visor and a pair of headphones.

Feeling Good, after various stages in Italy and Europe, will be presented for the first time at the Fonderia on 26 April during an evening in which short films on the theme of dance and disability will also be shown. In addition to this performance, the other dates of the dance festival in the Fonderia highlight the choreographic creativity of companies in Reggio Emilia: the ballet for children and families Alice in Wonderland with Agora Coaching Project directed by Michele Merola and Enrico Morelli (2-3 April), 50 min|mq by E.sperimenti Dance Company led by Federica Galimberti (8 April) and the evening with the triple bill of XL Dance Company by Laura Matano and Emanuela Baratin (28 April). 21 April will be an evening focusing on how the human body reacts to situations of war and danger thanks to the choreography Under the flesh by Lebanese artist Bassam Aboud Diab, followed by a conversation with Mattia Mariani, director of Telereggio.

Finally, educational activities are carried on: from the workshop In search of the lost gesture for the over 50s to the Over Limited modules (in April the participants will work with the amazing Stopgap Dance Company) and projects with schools.
