Bach Project is an important step in exploring the relationship between dance and music, between classical composition and its contemporary re-creation.
A new work, Domus Aurea, inspired by the music of Johann Sebastian Bach has been entrusted to Diego Tortelli, the young choreographer whose other projects will also be produced in 2018 by the Fondazione Nazionale della Danza, and which has involved the visual artist Massimo Uberti.
Domus Aurea is a work based on juxtapositions.
Bach’s genial composition is respectfully reinterpreted by Colombo Taccani, who pays respect and homage to it, but also has the same spirit of invention. The desire to underline the importance of music in inspiring movement has led to considering a live performance, thanks to the ensemble Sentieri Selvaggi and the partnership, for this important production, of Festival Mito and I Pomeriggi Musicali of Milan, as well as Torinodanza/Teatro Nazionale di Torino and Les Halles de Schaerbeek.
The evening is completed by a piece from 1990 by Jiří Kylián, Sarabande, also inspired by Bach’s music. It is a creation with a fascinating circular structure, with the ability to move between different levels of music and expression that highlights its extraordinarily contemporary nature.
Through its musical dimension the Bach Project thus embodies an intergenerational, open and curious vision of choreographic creation.
