“Next Generation Choreographers: elements of choreographic creation, composition and staging for the dance of the future”
Professional Area: Artistic and Performing Arts Production

Choreographic creation, dance dramaturgy, staging and light design: a 150-hour course to go through the essential tools of an emerging choreographer to face the challenge of staging.

Next Generation Choreographers is aimed at those dance and performing arts professionals who want to broaden their knowledge: through four intensive modules between October 2021 and March 2022, participants will work with some of the most interesting choreographers on the international scene, selected by the Fondazione Nazionale della Danza/ Aterballetto, as well as dramaturgs, light designers and stage technicians, until they experiment with their own idea of choreographic staging.

The project aims at offering participants the technical and theoretical tools necessary to deepen the study of choreographic composition through lessons, meetings and field projects, comparing and providing knowledge, skills and artistic experiences useful to enrich the reflection and to enhance the tools to translate the vision of an idea into a creative act.

Aterballetto - Fondazione Nazionale della Danza

The project is developed through three distinct modules, dedicated to the study of different approaches to choreography and to the exploration of some possibilities of staging.

Each module will be entrusted to a different renowned choreographer, supported by other professionals who will speak about the dramaturgical writing for the choreographic work and the basic elements of staging and production.

Within the course, there will be a workshop developed by the participants, who will be asked to compose a performance with the young dancers of Agora Coaching Project, with a final presentation of the work open to the public.

The entire course will be supervised by the ballet masters of the Fondazione Nazionale della Danza.
