Stanze \ Rooms is a site-specific itinerant performance, tailor-made for special places in the cities hosting the project.

The Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto’s resident choreographer Diego Tortelli starts from the suggestions of the spaces – from the foyer of a theatre to the halls of a museum – and imagines an original choreographic and musical path, disseminating dancers, musicians, and also some performances in virtual reality, visible through “oculus” (the visors used for VR).

The spectators will enter into an exciting close relationship with the performers and will experience in a special way places that are usually not dedicated to live performances.

Teatro Municipale Romolo Valli, 15-16-17 May 2021

Diego Tortelli starts from the suggestions of the foyer, the stage and the rooms of the Ridotto of the Teatro Municipale Romolo Valli and imagines a choreographic and musical path, which starts from the work Domus Aurea by the visual artist Massimo Uberti, scenography for the first creation of the same name by Tortelli for Aterballetto, luminous drawing of an ideal house inside the context of an Ideal City.

The performance consists of Sonata in trio, i.e. excerpts from Domus Aurea, a 2018 creation set to music by Bach, the duo Another story, which tells a new story of embrace, and Preludio, choreography for five dancers to the unique voice of Nick Cave.

The tour ends with LASCIA CH’IO…, a poetic video installation created during the lockdown in co-production with the Fondazione I Teatri di Reggio Emilia.

Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo, 25-26-27 March 2022

Diego Tortelli starts with the suggestions of the new setting up of some of the rooms of the Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo and imagines a path where history and innovation meet. For the choreographer, the museum is where we keep our memories, and it is to this special place that he wants to entrust all those duets and solos that have never been performed, but which have been a fundamental part of his research. Small choreographic collections that had ended up in a drawer and now come back to life with a new value and a different maturity, surrounded by the works of art and the wonderful spaces of the Pinacoteca.

The spectators enter into an exciting close relationship with the specially selected dancers, accompanied by Daniela Savoldi’s cello, and experience in a special way the significant collection of Brescian and Italian paintings, organised through an exhibition route from the late Gothic to the 19th century.
