STORIE

Teatro Municipale Piacenza
7 April H 16.00

Aterballetto performs Storie in Piacenza.

Storie is a small anthology of danced fragments. They constitute only an infinitesimal part of the very rich artistic and human universe of the two choreographers Diego Tortelli and Philippe Kratz.

Tortelli creates two pieces: Preludio, opening the evening, is a love letter to the body for five dancers on the music of Nick Cave, Another story is a duet on the impossible gesture of 2020, the embrace. Between past and future are Kratz’s two creations. The “O” duo offers us two bodies/robots, forcing us to question how the meaning of physical contact might change: will it remain emotional and felt, or will it become serial and alienated?
Alpha Grace, a six-step in the evening’s conclusion, is a reflection on empathy, a form of gentle communication between people who feel on the same level. It too is challenged by the present times.

Alpha Grace / Another Story / Rhapsody in Blue

Teatro Comunale Modena Modena
16 April H 20.30

On April 16, the Aterballetto Company dances on the stage of Teatro Comunale in Modena with a unique trilogy of choreographies: Alpha Grace by Philippe Kratz, Another Story by Diego Tortelli, and Rhapsody in Blue by Iratxe Ansa and Igor Bacovich.

Alpha Grace by Philippe Kratz (awarded the 2019 Dance&Danza Prize for ‘Best Choreographer’), premiered in 2021 at the Operaestate Festival in Bassano del Grappa. It explores empathy as the perception of ourselves in relation to those around us. Another Story by Diego Tortelli, presented in 2021 in Rovereto, narrates the story of the most feared and simultaneously desired gesture of 2020, a year marked by a global epidemic: the embrace, set to the music of the English rock group Spiritualized. Rhapsody in Blue is a brand-new creation by Iratxe Ansa and Igor Bacovich, set to the notes of George Gershwin’s composition of the same name.

STORIE

Teatro Civico Vercelli
9 May H 21.00

Aterballetto performs Storie at the Teatro Civico in Vercelli.

Storie is a small anthology of danced fragments, representing only a small part of the rich artistic and human universe of the two choreographers, Diego Tortelli and Philippe Kratz.

Tortelli contributes with two pieces: Preludio, opening the evening, is a love letter to the body for five dancers set to the music of Nick Cave. Another Story is a duet exploring the impossible gesture of 2020—the embrace. Between past and future, Kratz presents two creations. The duo “O” features two bodies/automatons that force us to ponder how the meaning of physical contact might evolve: will it remain emotional and felt, or become serial and alienated?
Alpha Grace, a sextet concluding the evening, reflects on empathy as a gentle form of communication between individuals on the same level—a concept tested by the challenges of the present times.

YELED / SECUS

16 May H 19.00

The Aterballetto Company performs at the Lodz Ballet Festival 2024 in Poland, showcasing Yeled by Eyal Dadon and Secus by Ohad Naharin.

YELED – Eyal Dadon

Yeled in Hebrew means child. Can we change ourselves as adults? Can we go back to being children?
“In the process of creation with the dancers, I reflected on the moment in our lives, as adults, when we lost the feeling of being children, the feeling of being naturally pure, and the ability to have clean filters. When was the moment we lost our innocence and why? One of the main keys to the creation is the real things we learned as children and how these things shaped us into the people we are today.” – Eyal Dadon

SECUS – Ohad Naharin

Secus boasts a musical collage that ranges from the unusual electronic styles of AGF to the seductive Indian melodies of Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, to the resonant harmonies of the Beach Boys. This adventurously eclectic mix serves as the suitable backdrop for a bold and extravagant choreography that unfolds before our incredulous eyes in a human alphabet made up of sprints, solos, crisp and clean gestures, interrupted duets. Through precise and sudden kicks, sinuous disarticulation of hips, torsos bending in all directions like molding clay, Secus expresses pure emotions and feelings without becoming sentimental.
