Opening the Sharjah Book Fair

The Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto, recently recognised by the Ministry of Culture as the first and one and only National Choreographic Centre in Italy, has been invited by the Italian Cultural Institute of Abu Dhabi to inaugurate the 41st edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) on 2 November.

Once again, the Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto is called upon to represent Italian dance and culture in events of particular international importance, as an excellent example of Made in Italy, a perfect combination of tradition and openness to innovation and contemporary culture.

The Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto, after being at Expo Dubai 2020 in January 2022 with its virtual reality project “Virtual dance for real people”, returns to the United Arab Emirates with A Poetry Abstraction, a performance created in 2018 for the launch of the Marina Rinaldi by Roksanda capsule.

The creation, signed by Diego Tortelli, a choreographer whom FND/Aterballetto has been successfully supporting since 2018 on his path of choreographic professional growth, is a narration of lines, plastic figures and geometries with live music by cellist Daniela Savoldi. A Poetry Abstraction, which has been presented in various European cities such as London and Paris, at Milan Fashion Week and, at the invitation of the Italian Embassy, in Brussels on the occasion of Italian Republic Day on 2 June 2022, is ready to fascinate the audience of the Sharjah International Book Fair as well.

The event is organised in collaboration with ATER Fondazione.
